Spofi Fantasy NBA Update: One Month Left!: Playoffs have started in the head-to-head league, and the final standings pushes are being made in the rotisserie league. Updated tables and playoff bracket inside...
Head-to-Head Playoff Bracket
posted by dusted at 05:56 PM on March 31, 2005
The rotisserie league looks to be a four-way race between me, Ufez Jones, smithers, and jasonspaceman's brother-in-law. The head-to-head league is wide open, especially with so many injuries to important players (Duncan, Jermaine O'Neal, Webber (again), Kirilenko, etc. Probably not going to happen, but if I win both leagues, I'm going to go buy myself a trophy.

the head to head is probably my best chance to break my string of "perhaps strong showings but not winning" spofi pool performances but even going into the playoff in 2nd spot I don't think it'll happen. we all know the real battle in H2H is the "non participating since late January" Crackhouse Cagers vs the "way out of it but MAXIMUM respect for not giving up" Jiztastic in the 7th place playoff in a couple weeks. Seriously. MAD PROPS to Jiztastic for sticking with the pool even though his team didn't amount to much. So many people abandon fantasy pools part way through. It is great to see somebody commit to the pool through to the end despite pulling up the rear.

Foshizzle has got to drop at some point soon......he has maxed out almost every position. I was really pleased with the crazy run I made to get from 10th or 11th to 3rd, but now I'm in 4th, so think I've maxed out. I like dusted to hold on there.
posted by smithers at 10:13 PM on March 31, 2005
Foshizzle had a long run, but I'll bet he'll still be a factor, only because some teams will benefit from his points as he drops more than others. smithers, it's too bad that you couldn't have pulled off a trade exchanging one of your SGs for a forward. Between SG and Util, the games limit is going to kill you (which I'm sure you already know). Things can change quickly, but since 40 Bars has faded and smithers has a schedule problem, it'll probably be me or Ufez. May the best fantasy dork win. Honestly, I think ChasFile's "_" team would have contended if he hadn't benched the team a few months back. KG, Brad Miller, Billups and Arenas, plus good bench players. So yes, I agree, MAD PROPS to the mysterious Jiztastic for sticking it out.

I, Foshizzle, maxed my gamenizzle. But, in the other league, I am going to sizzlers on you all!

The Flying Elbows II have had a disappointing season in defense of their title. defense is illegal had a pretty good run in a tough league, but with Duncan, Jermaine O'Neal, and Brad Miller all on the IL, I stand no chance in the playoffs. On the other hand, I had the highest average in the KFBA "Experts" league, and I'm winning my semifinals in the playoffs.

I was just wondering about that mbd1..........sweet!!!!

Yikes, mdb1, that's a truly horrible injury trifecta at the worst time. Congratulations for the KFBA success!

jasonspaceman, it looks like I'll see you at Sizzlers next week.

I take back everything bad I've ever said about Baron Davis. Check out this box score.

yeah, but he had 3 turnovers..... /jealous

Davis sure has been the missing piece for the GSW, not just stats but leadership too according to the local rags. Too late for this year though.

well, h2h comes down to a 3 vs 4 matchup for the title (whoda thunkit?). I think my 2nd place ranking at the end of the season is more a reflection of my first half dominance and had the season continued much further I would have slid to 3rd or 4th or lower. I got hit by injuries to Z Randolph and R Jefferson and while they weren't A-level superstars they were better than the schlubs I had to replace them with. In the end, i lost the semifinal in a very close fashion - two categories tied and a 3-2 loss in the others. while my final week included zilch from shaq and d. wade's wost game of the season I won't necessarily say that is how I lost, since if shaq plays it isn't enough to have me win any category I didn't win except probably blocks with the caveat that any turnovers he'd have made would have also sent that category the other way. collapsing in both the NBA and EPL pools. why couldn't those seasons have ended in January!

I feel a little bad about the way I won, adding and dropping over the last couple days to get back a couple of games. I lost a few games from Kobe and Ilgauskas, and it is part of head-to-head, but I was the only one who did it.

gspm, I think it's funny how our semi-final matchup came down to whether or not Tony Parker turned the ball over in OT. Definitely a nail-biter...

yeah, i was wondering what would've happened in a tie.

Speaking of, gspm... MeatSaber and I are tied after the championship round. Based on this page, I think he's the champion, because of his better regular-season winning percentage. It was so close that it came down to the very last game. If Jamal Crawford got a block, I would win. Since he didn't, I didn't. Congrats MeatSaber! Great league, everyone!

dusted, you're jumping the gun a little. The championship round last until Wednesday, the last day of the regular season. So, while I'll gladly take congrats if I do win, it's a tad premature...

Oops. Never mind. Now if Camby actually plays tonight...

Same goes for Okafor... On a side note, I'm more worried about stars being rested for the playoffs. I sure could use Allen Iverson's numbers these last days. AI's banged up enough to warrant a rest, but hopefully for my championship chances, the Sixers don't clinch a playoff spot until Wednesday. Then there's Gasol, Pierce, Arenas, Jamison, Tony Parker...my team could get shelled for DNPs and limited minutes...

The Chris Webber award goes to dusted for not paying close enough attention when his whole season is on the line. i think the final matchup in the h2h league is proving to be quite 'the thing'. very closely matched. in my playoff I seem to have it nearly in the bag, for some unknown reason. all the drama is in the final.

The Chris Webber award goes to dusted Yay! Do I get an extra timeout?

Yay! Do I get an extra timeout? You shoulda asked to date Tyra Banks for a while. Priorities, man!!!

That's where the extra timeout comes in handy: I can get last-second advice from Coach MeatSaber... Hop in, Miss Banks.

Worse than that...I had Paul Pierce in my lineup, and took him out yesterday afternoon on the hunch that he'd be resting up for the playoffs. He had 3 assists last night, which was also just enough. Talk about your coaching blunders... But at any rate, congrats dusted...for taking both leagues. Guess you have to do some trophy shopping now... =D
posted by MeatSaber at 09:45 AM on April 21, 2005
Thank you! It's amazing how close several of the playoff series have been - down to one assist or one turnover. I checked the scores three times last night... it kept flip-flopping based on blocks, turnovers and assists. I almost didn't play Mobley, but I read at the last second that Lewis and Butler were not going to play. It was Mobley's last two assists that won it. I had forgotten about the trophy thing...
