EPL Fantasy League Week 17 (December). The weather wiped out two games. Damien Duff wrecked his shoulder. BigCalm got 58 to beat the rest of us. I'm tired. (more inside)

Postponements happen, and more certainly will, and if there's anything to be learned it may be the value of having fifteen guys on your squad who are all likely to play any given week rather than padding with the James McEveleys of the league (not picking on anyone in particular, just noting how oddly popular McEveley was at the beginning of the season for someone who'd never appear in a game). We'll also need to remember to watch for when those lost games will be rescheduled (on the home page and the deadlines page, or any reputable news source), and be ready for those double weeks like those we had before. Remember also that Boxing Day and the games the following Sunday are both considered "gameweeks," with all of two days to change your roster between them. If you're going to be traveling after Christmas, this would be something to consider. I think I'm just going to do the one update for both rounds on the 28th. In the meantime, heartily enjoy whatever it is you celebrate, and be safe.

Yes, these postponements really hurt my points this week. I was hoping to get some serious points but now i am out in the Yahoo AND this league because of this crap... Did anyone watch the highly entertaining game between Leeds and Manchester City today? Leeds were seriously outplayed but MC just didn't seem to have their whole heart in it. In the end, i think a 1-1 draw was deserved by both sides, i am just pissed that i transferred Sibierski when i did...

Yep, despite a good week, I think it's time to ring the changes before all the christmas games, with Jay Jay going off to the African nations too. It's a bit tight in this league, with only 34 points between 11th and 20th.

I hate this bastard league, it gives me a migraine.

I guess it could have been a lot worse. At least two of my subs made it off the bench and scored eight points between them. And a little bird just told me about a recent change in corner-taking responsibities at a team that scores a lot of their goals from set-pieces. Don't think I'm telling you bunch of losers though.

BC, JJ got a one game reprieve from his national call up and will remain in England until Jan 10 or so...

I'm glad you have a migraine FB. It serves you right for spoiling my fun.

A bit of a disappointing week for all it seems... As for McEveley, well, he was the cheapest player around. And I can't afford to replace him, even though his value has gone up since the start of the season.

phew. my team didn't tank despite being out of the loop for almost two weeks. they didn't get better either so i'll consider that a small victory.

Out of the loop?

For those of you who have McEveley in your squad, don't forget to change the order of your subs, a couple of key players are injured today and aren't showing as such (yet) on the team sheet.

Well, yours is a lost cause FB. I may as well help those with hope.

Hahah, it was assumed by some that I was a lost cause last year, but I wasn't, no-one ever is. We all have hope.

I heard about your Stalingradesque fight back. Seeing as it's my first season, I'm aiming for survival. Europe would be a bouns and top spot my rightful position ;-)

SF, you must be really excited after Friday. Not only was Heskey relegated to the Sub List while Kewell was healthy enough to start but Kirkland broke a finger and will guarantee Dudek the starting spot for 3-4 weeks. Plus FSP got his first EPL goal, Owen and Baros are getting ready for a January return. Now if only GH will find a willing victim sucker to take Emile off his hands in the transfer window!

Yes, yes...i am quite happy... I am NOT happy however about dropping another place in both leagues!

Murphy got two assists as well. That must cheer you up, seeing as you think he's so crap.

Poor Fucker, the Fates give with one hand and take with the other.

What happened to Houllier? I thought he had some sense when FSP started Friday but sure enough he couldn't leave his favorite pet on the bench twice in a row.

posted by billsaysthis at 12:35 PM on December 28, 2003

He has no sense, when are you going to realize this?
