SpoFi NFL fantasy football. Who wants to commish the league this year? I would do it, but I suck at picking stats and setting everything up.

I mention this early because alot of good draft times are available now, the longer we wait, the worse they will get.

If you need someone to do that for you, I am willing to. I am commish of an office league at my job so it wouldn't be too hard to give a weekly update. Of course, if someone else would really like to do it, I will not stand in your way.

Hey, corpse, what about the EPL Fantasy League? Oh, I feel betrayed! Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

How dare you call it football?!

posted by StarFucker at 09:50 AM on July 16, 2003

What should it be called?

What are the chances of having some kind of newbie guide? I want in!

We could call it Football for Guys Who Don't Do This. I'm definitely in for the league, but I'm a terrible commissioner. I'll always vote for contraction of lousy teams, loaning my own club money and cancelling exhibition games before they're finished. Love, Bud Selig

Rugby for big girls blouses.

Yeah, american football vs european football, the first one is a buncha guys running around a lot kicking each other in the shins, and every once in a great while scoring a goal, the other is a sport. You diss my game I'll diss yours. I'm done being commish for any fantasy leagues, but I'd like to be involved in this years fantasy football league. Whomever choses to do this setup the league, and come back here and tell us the league name and password, thanks.

How are we going to run it then? Points or head to head? How competitive do you want it?

posted by jasonspaceman at 06:30 AM on July 17, 2003

I want butt-kickin', head-thumpin', my-momma-could-whip-your-momma competitive. I want blood, guts, sweat and snot. I want people crying before they face my juggernaut. But hey, I'm easy. Whatever y'all want is cool.

Last year we did head to head, I liked that okay, it seems to work well with the weekly format of football games. Does anyone prefer points?

posted by corpse at 08:28 AM on July 17, 2003

Head to head is the only way yahoo does fantasy football.

posted by jbou at 10:46 AM on July 17, 2003

grumble grumble ... first direcTV jacks up NFL sunday ticket another $50 and now nfl.com wants me to pay to play fantasy? is yahoo the only free game in town this year? we're tallking about a live draft for the sportsfilter league (i hope)? (sorry i this question was answered in the comments above ... when the soccer freaks started derailing the thread i started skimming.)

posted by danostuporstar at 11:10 AM on July 17, 2003

p.s. what is the job description for the commish? is it just setting up the yahoo stuff or is it starting a locker room thread every week?

posted by danostuporstar at 11:12 AM on July 17, 2003

Definitely head-to-head. The points system is kinda boring and doesn't stimulate constant team activity as much as head-to-head.

posted by ttrendel at 11:14 AM on July 17, 2003

We didn't do a thread for football every week last year, although that would be nice. I would consider doing it, since I know more about football that soccer. (sorry EPL people)

corpse, i am crushed...

I'm the same, Fooker. Totally demolished, I don't know how I will carry on ...

posted by worldcup2002 at 12:31 PM on July 17, 2003

Okay, I'll consider the EPL one too. It will be simple though.

posted by corpse at 01:43 PM on July 17, 2003

That's OK corpse. We soccer fans are fairly simple ourselves.

I setup a spofi american football league. Password is steroids, League ID# is 119260, name of the league is spofi, draft is set for Sunday, July 27 at 11:15 am EDT, the draft is subject to change if you all don't like the time, it's a live draft, and it's a head to head league.

posted by jbou at 02:11 PM on July 17, 2003

Jbou, could you explain all that in English, please mate?

posted by Fat Buddha at 03:03 PM on July 17, 2003

squealy: We soccer fans are fairly simple ourselves. There goes squealy, referring to himself by the royal "We" again. Tsk. Tsk. Brummy bog bandit! (hahahaha - I can't wait for the new season to start. Liverpool v Birmingham will be a couple of cracking games, I bet)

And what about you lazy lot? Who's setting up the damn EPL fantasy league, huh? The American Football league is up and running, and we're still looking at the dirt under our fingernails. C'mon! And don't look at me. I burnt myself out last year running the fantasy league, doing weekly fantasy league updates as well as the weekly EPL report and my sparkling Locker Room interviews. I would've won the league if not for my jet-set schedule. This year, I will specialize on the interviews (which I haven't even been doing that well lately) and insulting people in the comments section. My main goal is to finish above #5 in the Fantasy League -- this will qualify me for the Champions fantasy league, no?

posted by worldcup2002 at 05:02 PM on July 17, 2003

Why are we talking about this in an NFL thread? And I thought *I* was fecking simple. :P

posted by squealy at 06:11 PM on July 17, 2003

Maybe I can get etrader9 to do it... He is pretty gung ho about the whole thing.

posted by StarFucker at 10:51 PM on July 17, 2003

Please, just somebody do it! (sorry for hijacking the thread, American Footballers. I will take this off the thread.)

posted by worldcup2002 at 12:50 AM on July 18, 2003

What's wrong with hijacking a thread?
