How Soccer Explains China: China is about to bag a sackful of Olympic Golds but that won't be any comfort to Han sporting nationalists, because the country (its men's team anyway) are still crap at the only sport that matters, association football.
Thanks Abiezer. I think China has found it's own Nick Hornby, which only goes to show that despite our outward differences, football fans around the world are the same - usually in a state of self-deprecating cynicism, tempered with resignation. I believe that this can only be good for future international relations. And China aren't that bad - they beat Australia in Sydney in June (admittedly a dead rubber), and more and more individual players are moving to Europe. Give it time.
