'kay ... I'll just throw it all on the line and say that I think we've become far too obsessed with celebrity/celebrity-athletes. Is it just me, or does anyone else long for the days when football, or any game for that matter, was just about kids playin' sport for sport's sake? "Will he be the next one?" "Looks like his dad when he was younger." C'mon ... just let the kids play. Okay, I know that the college scouts are like hawks regardless of the kid's "lineage" ... but I just can't imagine what it'd be like (pressures) to grow up in the shadow of a famous, great athlete. Ah, scratch that ... this is a new age--one that is realizing some of the unanticipated consequences of late-capitalist sports entertainment. What'd be really cool is if young Gretzky played NFL and young Montana hit the ice on the NHL. Talk about global sport. Or maybe Wayne could buy a CFL franchise for his son to quarterback. Wait, he's already done that. Brought in some Heisman winner ... The Racket ... The Jockey ... oh, yeah ... The Rocket. And why isn't Will Smith's kid in drama instead of playin' football?
