Jagr's Bummed.: The New York Rangers decide to move on with Markus Naslund, leaving Jaromir Jagr behind. Jagr is reportedly on his way to Russia.

This makes me really bummed as well. I 1st got into hockey as Jagr was turning into a superstar (and a bit of a prima donna) at Pittsburgh. When he left, my interest in hockey did as well. I was hoping that he would return to Pittsburgh, and i would start following them again. I need a reason more than Sid, b/c i would feel like such a bandwagon fan. It looks like i don't have much of a choice now. Either be a bandwagon fan, or don't re-engage the sport again for a while.

If Jagr never returns to the NHL again, I hope everyone remembers that he was the "bridge" between the Gretzky/Lemieux era, and the Crosby/Ovechkin era. Actually, that does a disservice to Jagr's career. If he had his prime in the 1980s, he probably would have challenged Gretzky's single-season point record. When his time comes for HOF voting, it better damn well be unanimous.

What I really liked about Jagr is that when his team was down by a goal or two late in the game, he wanted to be on the ice every single shift. Even during regular season games, he was out there trying to get his team back in the hunt for a point or two. Also, you could not knock that effer off the puck. Oh how the other team tried, he was just too strong and quick for them to disrupt his game.
