What I find strangest is the way that Tyagachev sounds like some bad B-movie, Cold War-era Russian cyborg or something... (He's quoted repeatedly in the linked-on-MeFi ESPN article.) "[W]e have only so much patience." "[T]he Olympic Games will be lost." "We defend our honor." Maybe he's a Klingon.

Not that Ultimate Frisbee is a "new" sport, but it would make a terrific addition to the Olympics - or any other major competition. Only problem is, there are no referees; I guess an association would have to develop new standards for judging, or else the potential for large-scale competition is rather small.
