Ryan: Male Fans Devalue UConn Winning Streak

Like Howard said, the only thing I have a problem with is people who discredit the UConn women just because they play other women and couldn't beat UCLA head to head. When you talk about how impressive a certain feat is, you have to look at it relative to the league its played in (as long as the leagues are top level so you can't have a Div 1 caliber team dominating Div II teams and calling their records the best). Having the discussion is not disrespectful at all: just because UConn has the highest number doesn't automatically mean they are the most impressive.

Deadspin Links Rex Ryan, Wife to Foot Fetish Videos

Not a big deal at all. Makes for some good heckling material though. Just because I don't think this should even be a story in the first place doesn't mean I can't ridicule my Jets loving friends for it.

Inventor Creates Visible First-Down Laser

the game has been getting slower and slower with more niggling over inches

When so much money rides on the outcome of these games and each players performance, it really is hard to argue against getting the call right even if it slows the game down some. Its a game of inches, and everyone knows how terrible it feels to be on the wrong side of a bad call.

I wouldn't argue against a computer chip in the ball to tell the exact location of the football relative to the field to speed things up though. Main thing is that the calls made are the correct ones.

Inventor Creates Visible First-Down Laser

I don't see any problem with it as long as it is safe for all personnel on the field. Just because some people can get by without it, doesn't mean it wouldn't be an improvement. Sure, "true fans" don't need it, but how about people who are just getting into football, ones who dont know the complete rules but know the team needs to get to the first down line. They are just as deserving to have a fun game experience as the "true fans." Reminds me of some of my older relatives who think cell phones are useless because they got by without them their whole lives.

If you think that it benefits players who should know where they are on the field, however, then we have something to talk about.

Chad Pennington: The Day My Shoulder Fell Out

If he's definitely finished then I guess it's time to harvest his brain and put it in Henne. We might have something then.

Lets do this. I was excited to have a QB not making mistakes all day long when Pennington got the start :( I still can't believe he missed a wide open pass to a receiver who had 2+ steps on the corner with the safety nowhere in sight last game vs the Browns. Any pro QB should make that pass every time (or at least not throw it behind the receiver AND the corner).

Giants' Rolle: Booing Us at Home is Like Booing Soldiers

dviking, I specifically said I wasn't saying that to you. I was just explaining why I disagreed with your opinion that Rolle should go elsewhere for work if he wasn't happy with some aspects of his employmet (btw I disagree with the get out of the country statement if I wasn't clear).

Someone risks their life for their country. Someone else risks their well being for your entertainment. Its called a metaphor, and he used it to get his point across. He isn't saying he deserves the same honor that we give soldiers. He is simply asking for people not to boo the home team. Comparing two things does NOT mean they are same like so many people seem to think, it just points out similarities...

Giants' Rolle: Booing Us at Home is Like Booing Soldiers

He doesn't like the total package he's receiving he can go drive a truck for all I care.

Yeah, and if you don't agree with all the decisions our country makes you can move somewhere else for all I care.

Not saying this specifically to you, but if the quoted statement is valid so is mine. Living in the US has many upsides, but obviously it has downsides too so people still strive to make it better (well, mostly complain about it but thats besides the point). Playing in the NFL has upsides (money and fame), but also has downsides (injuries). I see nothing wrong with a player striving to make his career more enjoyable. If anyone disagrees with him saying something, then I don't want to hear them complaining about their job either. I don't see why he has to be content with the way it is now when no one else has to. Because he makes a lot of money? Remember, we are the reason he makes so much. If sports weren't so important to all of us he wouldn't be getting this salary.

Kevin Garnett Makes 'Cancer Patient' Dig at Opponent

Not a very classy comment, but like its been said already I would be surprised if things much worse weren't said during games. The point of trash talking is to get under the other guys skin, and obviously KG did that. Would I have said it? No, but such is life.

Transgender Man Plays on Women's College Team

There is nothing wrong with this situation at all, and I'm glad the team is so accepting of it. Its only when a man's body plays with an advantage in women's sports that there is an issue and vice versa (even though I know there is some sport where being a woman is advantageous, I couldn't think of one in the couple minutes I took to write this).

Cliff Lee's Wife Angry at Yankees Fans

What Cliff Lee did to the Yankees fans throughout the whole season was much worse than what those fans did to her.

Kidding aside, some people just go too far. Heckling is one thing but spitting and throwing beer is another. I really do hate it when a whole fanbase is thrown under the train for what a much smaller group of people did though.

Tony Romo out with a broken collarbone

Always happy to see the Boys lose, but would rather watch it happen with Romo on the field. Good news is, he should be back in time for the play...oh, right. Better luck next year.

Want to help a charity? Think again.

After reading through everything, it appears as if the commissioner heard about it before it happened, said they didn't follow procedure and warned them if they followed through they would be banned.

After that statement, I agree that the refs do need to be suspended. The commissioner made it black and white.

However, are you kidding me? Instead of the warning given, would it have killed them to make an exception for the game so that the refs weren't in defiance, and then sent a memo out being very clear of how to go about doing this type of thing in the future? Eh, its hard to argue against the rules as they are there for a reason and they need to be respected, but sometimes it can get pretty frustrating.

Why Can't Stars Be Hit in the NHL?

You protect the guys that give you the best shot at winning, simple as that. Doesn't matter if the hit is clean or dirty, its common sense that you would rather not subject your star player to any hits. I don't know what McKenzie is saying when he disagrees with the "rule." He disagrees giving your team an advantage? Sorry, I'll take whatever I can get. Would you rather play against a team that doesn't hit back in those situations or one that does?

Transgender female sues to play on LPGA

I'm really not sure what to think about this.

On one hand, it seems the whole point of seperating any sport into mens leagues and womens leagues is to take into consideration the obvious physiological differences between the two genders. Just think if Floyd Mayweather had gotten a gender reassignment operation. Would it be fair for him to fight with women afterwards?

Now I'm not saying anyone has done this for the sole purpose of getting an advantage in sports. I know that these people go through hell living in a body they don't think they belong in, but when leagues make rules they need to be black and white and try to cover any possible scenario.

On the other hand, she went under a huge procedure to become a woman and I can only imagine how offensive it would be for her to be called a man still.

Maybe they should change the names to the XY-PGA and the XX-PGA, and have people take test to determine who goes where...

Cliff Lee Leads Rangers to ALCS

I was really hoping for the Rays to win so I we could see another Yankees-Rays series (not to mention I would rather not have Lee destroy the Yankees lineup again).

On top of the fact that liking Bush or not should have no impact on liking the Rangers...actually, I'm not going to get in on the argument and leave it at that. Grow up and lets watch should be a great series.
