Ultimate Fighting Robs The Cradle

I have to agree with Icon. These kids are being taught many disciplines of martial arts, hence the term "mixed martial arts". They are obviously wearing safety equipment and following sport rules. I don't think the parent in the article was actually referring to his children being on the street right now. The idea in parenting is to begin teaching behavior, such as discipline, hard work, wisdom, respect, at a young age. You might be surprised to hear what my 6 year old remembers about what I taught him when he was 4. The reason I started teaching him so young is so he won't be a hoodlum in the future. I doubt there is any more contact in mma than in football. Football players in recent times have sustained career ending and even life threatening injuries. However, there is still a long line of parents signing kids up for pee-wee football. MMA is the new sport in town and will probably be accepted in the future just like football is now. What I am surprised about is the fact that no one becomes outraged when they see the 6 year old kid who is 4 ft tall and already weighs 100 lbs. His parents don't want him to get hurt so they buy him all the video games he wants. He sits in his room, plays games, and eats junk food all summer long. He is now obese even before his teens years. Now that's abuse...but also a different topic.

Rose admits to betting on Reds every night

If we are going to throw Pete Rose under the bus...there are plenty of other players who belong there, as well. I don't want to mention names for fear of this discussion running off on a tangent. Point being, if the hall of fame is all about a player's ACCOMPLISHMENTS, he belongs in The Hall. If they are going to keep him out for what he did, there are plenty more players deserving the same fate for worse. Or, maybe the MLB is trying to send the message that they are not going to tolerate gambling, but steriods and amphetamines are a different story...after all, the right combination of drugs make the games more exciting...right??? And, purity of baseball or any other major sport is pretty much gone. There's nothing pure about a strike because millions of dollars are not enough to play a game. I could go through every major league sport and show examples of how all have lost the purity of "love of the game". It is all of us who remember the "love of the game", not the guys who demand millions to step on the field.

Stackhouse Suspended for Game 5

I gotta agree...the finals get physical. Let these guys play. If it didn't warrant an ejection during gameplay, why is it so different now. It's like the NFL being able to do replays after the game to change the score. And Shaq...if they try to "easy foul" him, he doesn't even know they're there. If they foul him a little hard, it's a game suspension. COME ON!!

Barry Bonds to get an Asterisk in Record Book *

I wouldn't say that we want an asterisk by his name because he's not liked. Let's get real. I don't know how many of you have ever been into strength training...I have. Look at what he looked like in his early years. A little guy, very fast, but not a slugger. Now, you wanna tell me he just woke up one morning and said "I'm tired of being the little guy, I think I'll put on 40 pounds of muscle." He says he didn't mean to use any steroids. Yep, and Bill Clinton never had sex with that woman. Oh, and he didn't inhale. Yep, I'm sure it was all the trainer's fault for doctoring the protein shakes. I think there should be some type of symbol next to his records. If you run a stop sign, even if you don't mean to, and the cops get you, you still get the ticket.

New sheriff in town.

I'm from San Antonio, and absolutely not a Spurs fan. The one thing I'd like to point out: Everytime the Spurs have lost a game this season, and these playoffs, the Spurs fans start the "bad refs" chant. I've never heard the refs get blamed for so many losses in all my days. I would say the Spurs were just outplayed in this series. But, it's over now, so not much more can be said. :)

Jason Terry suspended for game 6 of the Mavs/Spurs series

I don't think we can call this a mature/immature action. What would you have done? You don't know, because you weren't there. Maybe basketball means little to you, so you wouldn't have done the same thing. But, if it's your career and you're in the playoffs, who knows? The thing the sways me to Terry's defense is, he's on the ground with the ball, and both Ginobuli and Finley are on top of him. I don't have a problem with guys going after the ball, but come on. When a guy has, he has it. If you're a male, in the most intense situation of your career (maybe your life), and a couple of guys are trying to strip you of the very item you need to survive, now, what would you do? I also have to agree with Cuban. If his hand would've been open, this controversy would not exist. A fine, sure, but a suspension, that's too much.

3,000 Square Feet of Trouble

I think we would all be naive to think that most of the great athletes of college football don't receive some "special gifts". It's a matter of who is most careful about keeping it quiet. Truth be known, Bush didn't win the Heisman Trophy because he lived in a nice house. He's not expected to be the NFL No.1 draft pick because someone offered to move him and his family out of they're apartment. He won because he's an extraordinary athlete. He won because of hard work. I have to agree with the other posts. These kids work, study, practice, and play. They make all kinds of money for schools. So much stress is placed on them to do their best and be the best. Someone comes along to give them a little assistance and people want the athlete punished. Sounds wrong to me.
