Raiders go way back, sign inactive quarterback George

Cut George some slack! He is only the back up.... but man I hope he sees some playing time! He used to air it out to Moss with the Vikings back in 99 or something. He might be 38. but I bet he can still throw accurate 70 yard passes. How fun would it be to cheer for him?

Wild Playoff Hockey

I guess Emery shows that in overtime, it is hard to make even the most routine save when you are pooping your pants at the same time

Stevie Y. quietly moves up the list...again

Oops! I didn't really mean to compare Yzerman and Gretzky like that..... But... if I could travel into the past, AND own a hockey team..... AND I had the opportunity to sign either one of these guys in the beggining of his career.... I would sign Yzerman over Gretsky. No offense to Gretzky, but Yzerman is the type of person I want on my team. His selfless style of play would inspire every member on my team to play better. hahaha

The Agony of Defeat.

I used to live north enough to watch the CBC. The olympic coverage is far better up there! In america we only get to watch American athletes. If we are not in the medal round, we don't get to see the sport. The Canadiens obviously focus on there athletes too, but at least if it is a great event, and it is the medal round... they will show it even if no Canadiens made it in. That is pretty classy olympic coverage if you ask me.

The shootout, the NHL's guilty little pleasure.

As long as they restricted the size of goalie pads, I am happy. Anahiem won the cup three years ago because their goalie was wearing couch cusions on his legs. lame. That guys sucks. What European country does he play in now?

Fighting Down in NHL

Yeah, some fights are better than others. I remember a Detroit/Colorado game that was dubbed the "screw Lemieux night" Claude Lemieux... Darren McCarty... It really cemented that playoff series in my mind. I remember certain goals quite well too. every fight isn't great. that is true. niether is every goal. But I believe that there is a place for fighting in Hockey. It adds to the intensity. there is no other team sport (that I know of) that allows fighting like Hockey does. It adds to the mistique of the greatest game on Earth! I don't demand a fight from every game. I don't care. But if it is going to happen, it should happen. so should big checks, incredible saves, short handed goals, hat tricks, deeks, one timers, slap shots from the blue line, all that! I love hockey.

Fighting Down in NHL

I side with Don a bit on this one.... I like the idea of unwritten rules, and a code of ethics... even though it may be enforced by violence. When I see cheap shots of guys getting repeatedly smacked in the face with sticks it infuriates me! the refs can't catch all of this, and I think the players, if allowed to fight would be able to police themselves, and we wouldn't need so many penalties. I know it sounds funny, but I think that with fighting comes better sportsmanship. It also offers a relief valve against pent up frustration which will always be part of the game.

Don't crap on the small "non-hockey" markets.

Bring Hockey back to Winnipeg.............? I was a Jets fan, and went to a number of games in winnipeg.... I was always suprised to find that the fans there cheered more for the opponent than for the jets! Maybe that was because I always went to see Toronto play... It just felt sort of wrong to be in winnipeg for a jets game and see a sea of mapleleaf sweaters around the rink. I think the winnipegers didn't really like the jets. That being said... I have not been back to Winnipeg since the Jets left. Maybe they would appreciate a team more now that they haven't had one for a while. Canadiens confuse me.
