Scolari is new Chelsea coach, effective July 1.: Looks like Avram Grant was a stopgap until they found a big name. Now they've found one in the current Portugal coach (who also won something called the World Cup as Brazil's coach in 2002), who's doing quite well at the Euro 2008 championship right now.

With Big Phil at Chelsea, I wonder if Ronaldo might move over to the Blues, too (instead of Madrid or staying at Man U)?

Well, I loved him in Bosom Buddies and the Newhart show. Seriously, if he's smart enough to skip over the England job to go somewhere where he's got a better chance of winning, then he's clearly no dummy.

He also cited the unbearable English press as a reason for not taking the England job. Last I noticed, they're still here and still unbearable. I wonder is this some sort of sign that Mickelson will win the US Open this week...?

"He also cited the unbearable English press as a reason for not taking the England job. Last I noticed, they're still here and still unbearable." Luckily, those guys don't cover Chelsea's games. Oh wait.

I wonder if this makes it more likely that Carvalho, who has been linked with a move to Inter, will stay with Chelsea.

I'm sure money and access to the top players in the world had nothing to do with it.

This would be the same Phil Scolari who turned down the England job two years ago, because he wouldn't talk about job offers while still in charge of Portugal. errr... Having said which, given a choice between England and Chelsea, I'd probably come to the same decision as Big Phil.
