U.S. downs Canada 5-2 to win first women's world under-18 hockey championship: Canada won the gold medal at the inaugural women's world hockey championship in 1990 in Ottawa and eight of nine titles after that. But the U.S. will carry the mantle as the first champion of the world under-18 tournament in 2008 in Calgary.

Congrats to the US Womens under-18 team. It seemed like publicity stunt to many at the time but I'd like to think Manon Rheaume had alot to do with the growth of US Womens Hockey.
