This pisses me off.: I've come to accept, if not love, the wild card (especially after it helped the Mets), the excess of homers, and other features of modern baseball. (Not the DH, though -- one reason I'm an NL fan.) But the fact that batters are such sissies they charge the mound on an inside pitch, and pitchers are now afraid to throw them -- that destroys the balance of the game (and is one reason for the glut of homers.)

Most major leauge players will readily admit that inside pitching is part of the game. I don't see why people get so pissed off about it though when it happens to them. All Loften has to do is go tell his pitcher to make it even (Although I would advise against such hijinks in the LCS). I would like to see the glut of battle armor worn to the plate toned down a bit. If you're going to get plunked, you should feel it.

I agree entirely, corpse. I also like the tight fitting uniforms. It should be like the arms race, where teams trade sluggers removing their armor. For instance: Gary Sheffield and Mo Vaughn. The exception: Barry Bonds, who can bat naked or in plate mail, or anything else.

Eh, I don't think this is too much of a big deal. He most likely overeacted, but I don't think he was trying to cause a bench clearing brawl. Here is hoping that he calms down the rest of the series. I am happy to see him having a good postseason, and I would hate to see this change that (yeah, Kenny led the Tucson Toros to the Pacific Coast League Championship in '91 and he played for the UA basketball team, so I have to root root root for the hometown hero. maybe I would see if different with someone else.)

I wish I could charge certain spofi posters when they say knuckleheaded things. not you, language hat. just "certain spofi posters." I like the fighting in baseball, but I don't like collisions at the plate.
