Bad Light Stops Play. Or Does It?: Aussie hat trick as the Cricket World Cup finishes the way it began. And continued for most of the tournament.

Er, that should be 'most'. Two main issues here - Australia's dominance and the way the tournament was run. Plus the death of Bob Woolmer overshadowing just about everything. The ICC needs to get its act together after this shambles. And I have to go to Sri Lanka next week. Hope they're still talking to me.

Terrible, terrible tournament. Absolute shambles. Seven weeks is far, far too long to keep casual fans like me interested. Whenever I switched on to actually watch some of it, the stadiums were empty, the atmosphere was flat and the matches were tedious. When even the Chief Exec. of the ICC says the tournament is flawed, you know something went seriously wrong... Oh, and congratulations to Australia.

A fitting end to a tournament whose rottenness cannot be exaggerated.

Lots of commentators are calling it the Worst Tournament Anywhere, Ever. The Guardian compares it to the Atlanta Olympics (1996), the Edmonton World Athletics Championships (2001) and the Rugby League World Cup (2000). Formidable company. I even got bored doing the fantasy league. I believe they might have a job selling the TV rights next time unless the format improves. I also just remembered the Twenty Twenty World Cup thing is on later this year. Hopefully it won't be another ICC 'triumph'.
