I hate when trades like this happen over the weekend. Sorry about the late update.

As someone without a rooting interest in either team, I like this trade a lot. It is a classic challenge trade -- one man for one man, driven by need, not salary cap. It will be interesting to see how it works out -- could be a win-win.

This makes Seattle a legit team. If they can keep Rashard Lewis around, and sign a FA like Terry, they could have one of the best starting 5 in the NBA. As for Toronto, I dont see them making the playoffs before or after this trade- so time will tell how well this works out for them.

Blogger "Sky Hook" is right. Typically trades of big for small, or emerging talent vs. vet w/injury history don't work out. EXCEPT, when those trades involve a PG. PG is notoriously the hardest position to fill. Some fans will tell you that C is. But look across the NBA landscape and you'll see plenty of teams getting by with less than All Star quality talent in the pivot. Take another gander and you'll see that those without a good PG are generally those in the bottom half of the league. Charllie could end up having a career trajectory much like fellow UCONN alum Donyell Marshall, and thats a pretty nice forecast. But Ford could ultimately be the piece that turns the Raptors around.
