The Boys from the Suburbs: Hundreds of thousands of Australian children play soccer each and every winter weekend. Only a few end up going to the World Cup. Here are the stories of where Harry Kewell, Mark Schwarzer, Tim Cahill and others got their starts. Anecdotes to warm the hearts of parents, coaches and players everywhere.
I didnt read all of the related articles, but the ones I did read were heartwarming.

Evidence in the Kewell link that he does have guts and heart. But anyone who saw the WC qualifiers for Australia would have seen that, too. They were the best games I've ever seen him play.
