"I'm sorry Weedy, it just wasn't meant to be...": Jamaal Magloire has been traded to the Bucks for Desmond Mason, an '06 1st round pick, and the much loved "cash considerations".

I know, I know. Jesus. I was overestimating his actual value anyway, but it would have been nice for the hometown boy to come home and make good. He's a fighter though, and definitely better than Anthony Mason at this stage of the game. But he is also ridiculously injury prone. But it makes you wonder - if he could have be gotten to grandfather out a contract, why would Jalen Rose's deal look worse to the Hornets? - who are virtually guaranteed to have the worst record in the L - along with my beloved and reviled Raptors. This is a good move for the Bucks - who look like first round loser this year. Good solid starting five.

"New Orleans/Oklahoma City" - is this the official Hornet geographic designation for the season and/or a precursor of another frnchise move? Weedy, I wouldn't worry too much about Magloire since the Bucks will probably trade or sign and trade next Summer and he'll still be young enough to be a Raptor for years.

bill is right weedy, remember this is the same Bucks team that refused to resign the "Big Three" but held on to Tim Thomas and Michael Redd. I could see Magloire in a Raps uni. Just maybe not this season.

Where were the Lakers on this one? Oh right we already have... Chris Mihm and 17 year old Andrew Bynum.

"New Orleans/Oklahoma City" - is this the official Hornet geographic designation for the season and/or a precursor of another frnchise move? George Shinn, owner of OKC/NO Hornets has said Hornets are coming back to NO.

Weedy: Nobody wants Jalen Rose's contract, particularly not a rebuilding team like the Hornets. I can think of 2 teams that could potentially find it in their hearts (and wallets) to trade for him: the Knicks and the Sixers. If it's any consolation, this might actually increase the Raptors' odds of signing Magloire in 2 years. Are the Bucks going to re-sign him at $10 mil per if they've got Bogut ready to take over at C?
