Longtime St. Louis Cardinals and NFL radio broadcaster Jack Buck has died at age 77.
As a Twins fan, I will never forget his call of Kirby Puckett's home run to end Game 6 of the 1991 World Series. "Into deep left-center, and we'll see you . . . tomorrow night!"

i used to listen to the cbs radio nfl broadcasts during my stint as a pizza delivery driver. jack buck was simply terrific and i found myself slacking during a pizza run, just to catch a few more minutes of his broadcast, whether i cared about the game or not. brilliant indeed. yes, that's why you pizza was late. you weren't going to tip me anyway you cheap bastard.

Sad. I grew up listening to the Cardinals on the radio. There's just nothing quite like listening to Jack Buck on a warm summer night.

I was more familiar with Buck's gravel-voiced brilliance from his CBS Radio work on NFL games than his baseball broadcasts. I don't think anyone could call a football game like Buck and Brad Sham, an on-and-off-again broadcaster for the Dallas Cowboys. With Buck's death, I'm wondering which of the baseball announcing greats from my '70s childhood is still working. Is Vin Scully still doing Dodgers games?
