Jim Bunning wants changes to the Veterans Committee:: he seems to think that they need to elect someone every year, whether they feel there are worthy candidates available or not.
It's not that Bunning doesn't have a point. It's that that point would have a lot more weight coming from someone who doesn't have a (borderline, but still) chance of benefitting personally because of such a rule change. evil empire, you have a point as well, but if after two years (and then another two) they don't elect anyone, then I'm guessing holding the vote twice as often isn't going to change much.

coming from someone who doesn't have a (borderline, but still) chance of benefitting personally because of such a rule change. I don't get it. How would he benefit? He's already in. He was voted in by the Veteran's committee in 1996.

I stand corrected. He is in. I missed that. But my second point, I think, still stands. If the best any veteran was able to get was still 10% short of induction, voting twice as often isn't going to change that.

I invited a bunch of former teammates, but not one them was able to come Boggs speaking of redsox team mates that came to the induction. Maybe it is not just Manny that is an ass in that organization

It is kinda hard to believe after 100 plus years of baseball there isn't a veteran non worthy to get in the hof each year . Maybe the bloated statistics of modern day era is overshadowing the players of the past . It was a totally different game back then with huge stadiums instead of cracker jack fields such as texas or colorado where the ball flies out with ease . So maybe it takes a veteran to appreciate a veteran player . How often do you hear an old player come in as a guest during a broadcast and talk about someone we've never heard of , yet they played with or against them . They have the knowledge first hand whereas those in charge of making the decisions who is in or out may not possess .
