Anyone going to the USA v England B Team game in Chicago?: My wife and I will be there with 20 of the English/Scotch/Irish guys I used to coach in Houston. I think we're sitting in section 354 so if you see a big guy with a goatee and a small dark-haired beauty...that's us (that's me w/the goatee...) We'll be wearing the US 1950 World Cup commemorative shirts....and no, we're not one of those couples who dress alike...you know the ones...

Welcome to the City of big shoulders, and deep wallets. You should try to take your family to a good ole fashion baseball game! There is a reason only single, drunk guys run out on the field.

I can't wait to get to Chicago again. I've only been once...the same Memorial Day weekend in '77. Back then I stayed at the Playboy Hotel...them was the good ol' days...today is the better new day! We paid just under $60.00 for our tickets, SF, including all the bend-over-surcharges. Hey, it's still expensive, no doubt. But you know...Beckham's due for a new hair-do so England will need to start a fundraiser if enough tickets aren't sold.

You know, i just checked the lineup. Its not exactly England's B team at all... http://www.thefa.com/England/SeniorTeam/Players/ I might actually still go to this game. But i'm going to wait a few more days to see how many more players pull out because of "injury".

There are a lot of the first XI missing though...no Terry, Carragher, Lampard, Gerrard, Rio, Rooney...arguably England's 6 best players. Is it even confirmed that Owen and Beckham will be here? I know Real Madrid were effectively knocked out of winning the league on Sunday but I haven't seen an official statement saying they would play against the U.S....Colombia maybe. Joe Cole will have just arrived back in England from the genius Chelsea-Korea trip 2 days before they leave for the States...who knows...being tired may drop his voice enough to sound like a grown man. Personally, I have no desire to see Johnson...either of them, Crouch, Hargreaves, Richardson, Knight or any of those crap 'keepers. But...what the hell...we're going to have great time...and see the U.S team, of course..and it will fun to pound a few with the guys.

And my point there, Star, is come on by and say hello if you come to the game! We'll be in the first 4 rows of that section and probably The Globe Pub the night before and possibly the morning of the game to watch Celtic win the Scottish Cup.

Semi-OT, but sorta related: Am I allowed to be a little amused that the MLS All-Star Game this year is essentially a pre-season friendly for Fulham?

Mcbride is on Fulham.Ihope the all-stars wip Fulham.

Nah, it'll be Eddie Johnson's EPL tryout.

etagloh, since they're facing a squad that never plays together (except that some are on the American squad), why should it being a preseason match be so amusing?

Brace yourselves guys, I have bad news. Gary Neville has just pulled out, surely grounds for a refund?
