Fight of the year??: An early candidate for FOY will be the proposed June 11 bout between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Arturo Gatti.
Gatti dispatched "Jesse James" Leija on Saturday night clearing the way for the June superfight.
But, Gatti and Mayweather may have to outdo the Tito-Winky superfight in May.Should be a good year for the sweet science.

I will definitely get it. I don't quite understand why Floyd hasn't gotten more fanfare from the mainstream, but who cares?? Fight fans know that this will be a slugfest. Gatti has tried to be more of a tctician of late, but when he gets hit a few times he will start slugging. Should be awesome.

Gatti is a treat to watch, and we all know he leaves it out there - but if anyone thinks he has anywhere near the skills to beat Mayweather, I've got some moose pasture in Northern Ontario to sell them. I'm happy he'll see another two or three paycheques from HBO, and I hope that following that he'll try to retire with a few faculties still intact.

I doubt it. Not the part about him losing to Mayweather, but the part about him retiring. He still has a big payday when Miguel Cotto is ready and there is talk of De la Hoya coming back down.
I think Gatti has another three years left at a minimum. The money is too good for him to pass up.posted by gilcintron at 12:11 PM on February 01, 2005
Gatti looked awesome on Saturday night, especially with the more tactical approach followed by the unmerciful beating. Mayweather/Gatti should be a easy PPV purchase.
