Are you qualified?: The US have changed the criteria for qualifying for their Ryder Cup team. "The new system rewards the game's hottest players," explained PGA of America president Roger Warren. I wonder who they'll get to decide who's hot and who's not...

Lucky for Monty that being "hot" isn't a requirement for a spot on the European team - having, as he does, "a face like a bulldog licking piss off a nettle." Also hard to see Jimenez (face like a bag of spanners), Westwood (face like a robber's dog) or Clarke (face like a cartoonist's suicide note) getting picked.

Isn't that how they picked the US Men's Olympic basketball team?

No - that was with pins on pieces of paper, wasn't it?

The US has a basketball team??? Could've fooled me! Looks like a bunch of millionaires who shoot 30% from the field and 60% from the charity stripe. Shoot that at any playground and the all girl's middle-school team will OWN you.

I like Europe's process: Europe changed its selection process two years ago, taking the five top players from world ranking points, five from the European Order of Merit and two wildcards.
