Premiership footballer Lee Hughes has been jailed for six years for causing death by dangerous driving. : I'm just the bringer of glad tidings today, am I not?
As a West Brom fan, Lee Hughes was once one of my favourite players. The whole affair is very sad. Nobody is a winner in all this. It's hard to have sympathy for him though. He's done something very very stupid, and deserves to pay for it. Six years actually sounds quite lenient when you consider the facts of the case.

I don't know all the facts, but, if he wasn't drunk, I think six years sounds a bit harsh - when you compare it to sentences handed out for other things (like rape). It's the sort of thing that, unless he's utterly emotionless, he'll be paying for for the rest of his life anyway. If he'd had a drink though, to hell with him - in my book, that's as good as intent.
