I saw this on mefi also and thought about posting it here. I'm glad you did. It's such a beautifully simple way of recording every thing that happens in a game. When I was 16 and 17 I took the job of score keeper at my old little league park. I would keep the books, decide what was a hit and what was an error, and then did all the stats that would decide the batting and pitching title. I wasn't paid much, but I've never had a better job.
