Woo-hoo!!!!!!!: The Seligs are beginning the process of selling the Brewers! Praise God! Holy sh*t! This is the best day of my life!
Other early buzz suggests SAB Miller may buy the team.

The South African Brewers? Wow, that gives "outta state" a whole new meaning! It's gonna be tough doing road games in Pretoria.

A poll on the linked site already shows 76% of respondents think a change in ownership will be good for the team.

Probably the same percentage of respondents who hate Bud.

Wait a minute... does this mean that Bud Selig will no longer be commish? WHOOOOO HOOOOO!

i have a feeling larry lucchino has his eye on the commish job anyway.

I think Bud will probably stay as commish - it's not supposed to be a position for owners, and he technically doesn't even own the Brewers anymore. If he did step down, I can't see Lucchino doing it. I'm still pretty new to the sport, but I haven't yet read a positive thing about him (as in, he's to blame for botching A-Rod/Manny, he's an old-school baseball man who believes the eye can tell you all you need to know about a player...). Of course, that could also make him perfect for the job.

Have no fear Brewers fans. They've got a 30 year lease on Miller Park, so they shouldn't be picking up and moving anytime soon. Let me say from a long-suffering Brewers fan's standpoint (and apologies to jerseygirl, but we've suffered more than any Red Sox fan - at least your team wins more than it loses and makes the playoffs more often than once every 22 years and counting)...this is wonderful news. Maybe a new owner won't be so damn cheap, so we can pick up a few decent free agents once the new crop of prospects comes up in '05/'06. Oh, and perhaps keep a star for more than a year after he gets good.

They've got a 30 year lease on Miller Park This means nothing. If the new ownership *really* wants to uproot and skip town, they'll find a way to get out of it.

I think this means Selig will have more of an excuse to be Commish. No way Lucchino ever gets the job: I think he's painted far worse than he actually is, but too many owners don't like him. This will only make sense to Sox fans with NESN, but I'd vote for Larry's wife as Commish: her absolutely catatonic demeanor would make labor negotaitions fun again. Both parties would agree just to get out of the room. She was on with Don and Jerry twice this year and I think she consumed a box of Ketamine before each appearance.

Hey Brewers, page Frank McCourt ... I hear he is looking to buy a ballclub.

...unless, of course, the team is moved outta state. Which would be very bad. Very, very bad. Perhaps Senator Kohl is interested in picking up another sports franchise...
