Stupid worthless non-sport's governing body to eat its young next month.: Idiots. Long have I strove to keep judged events out of the Olympics and in the hands of Disney where they belong. But since I'm just a grouchy dude with a computer, there's not much I can do.

Ice skating in circles whilst wearing lingerie is not a sport. A sport should not rely on a subjective measurement to determine its outcome - judges should be transparent.

Now darts - that should be an Olympic event. Hardly any rules, no disputes about the outcome, play in a pub with a beer in one hand. Darts!

what about baseball? the strike zone seems pretty subjective to me.

I have a feeling that ice skating isn't as subjective as you make it out to be. As the moz pointed out, the strike zone seems subjective to those who don't know the official rules (what is it? between the elbows and the knees?)

The strike zone doesn't seem to be subjective, it is, despite what the rule book might say.

Sure, every actual sport has subjective, or at least interpreted, decisions enforced by judging officials - the strike zone, the pass-interference call, the decision win in boxing. The point is, sportos, that the outcome of those sports is not determined by a set of subjective decisions. You may shriek all you like about a miserable called third-strike, but the game isn't won or lost based on a folding table full of judges adding or subtracting points based on the suggestiveness of the Marlins' uniforms.

amen, grouchydude. I couldn't agree more. all the goofiness with arguing who should have won and the French Judge 'submitting to certain pressures'. BS! the competition is decided by Judges alone, meaning that who the judges pick to win is the winner period, paragraph, end of story. whining about not winning is foolish. the only difference in this year's Olympics is that the judge actually admitted to it. Without an objective scoring system, to me, figure skating and gymnastics are nothing more than dinner theatre.
