Good God.: Phil Jackson dropped a bomb in the Chicago Trib today. Apparently Phil has considered bringing in MJ to take Kobe's spot on the roster (should his trial conflict with the season). Any thoughts on this one?

Pele? Oh.
You mean Edson. Clever business that.

Phil is an oppurtunist. MJ certainly isn't doing anything (though he has tried), and he obviously isn't ready to completely step away from the game. I'm wondering if this is a fluke to divert attention from Kobe, or Phil's opening gambit to bring MJ in. In either case its got people focusing on the Lakers more than anything else around them.

Totally see this as a Phil-is-deflecting-attention-by-re-focusing-it. Now they ask about MJ and "Is Phil crazy?" and all that. Short term solution to help training camp. Or Phil is crazy.

Jordan won't join Lakers "It's a 100% no." That was a very short term solution.

No one said Jordan would play along, Phil.

I found it curious he wouldn't ask Mike unless completely necessary, but airs the news in a published report during the pre-season. If the delay in asking him was to respect MJ's privacy and allow him to stay out of sight (or atleast on his own terms), then what is he trying to accomplish? A Distraction? Mission accomplished.
