Interesting (to me anyway) article on how Everton have separated management of their youth teams:

Instead of leaving under 23 recruitment to the whim of a manager who might be here for 11 seasons or, like Martinez, for just three Everton are future-proofing the process and trusting staff who will work with younger players once they arrive at the club.

Interestingly, the club seems to be operating a continental B-team style system, where David Unsworth and new youth scout Jamie Hoyland are trusted to bring in their own players on the proviso those players are good enough to one day supplement the first team squad.
