Wayman Tisdale gets funky: Trading basketball for his bass full time after 12 years -- including stints with the Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings -- five-time NBA All-Star Wayman Tisdale surged onto Billboard's contemporary jazz chart, recording eight top-selling albums. In 2008, before he died of cancer at 44, Tisdale released his final studio album, "Rebound." It turns out the jazz musician was working on a longtime dream: recording a funk project. Fans can jam to Tisdale's funky transformation on the October 26 posthumous release The Fonk Record featuring Tiz & the Fonkie Planetarians.
