Collins' KU farewell ends in triumph: From antother article:Growing up on Chicago’s West Side, it wasn’t uncommon for Collins to see drug dealers and prostitutes in his apartment courtyard. He witnessed someone carve a tattoo off the chest of a rival gang member and, when he was 16, one of his best friends was shot in the head and killed moments after he left Collins’ home.
With his father in prison and his mother working through the night to support him and his older brother, Sherron turned to sports to try to steer clear of trouble. He spent most of his free time at the local Boys and Girls Club and even slept there on occasion.

I don't know about his NBA prospects, but if he doesn't want to leave Lawrence he certainly doesn't have to. There hasn't been a more beloved Jayhawk in years. Now if he can bring us a Big XII tournament title and another national title, we'll have him bronzed.

This first struck me as "The Blind Side" but in basketball, No rich family but maybe even better, a family of friends 16,000+ including Morningstars. Nice story, wish him luck in his life. Seems like he earned it.
