Acta joins Indians: If anyone has Cleveland to win the AL Central next season, you may want to look again.

On one hand, one cannot blackball Acta from managing ever again just because he had to try to get something out of the hellhole that is the Washington Nationals franchise. On the other, how he can possibly be the best the Indians could do, I have no idea.

While it is not remotely close to the record of futility that Acta had with the Nationals, Terry Francona's record with the Phillies was pretty poor (285-363 for a .440 winning percentage) and he has turned out to be not-so-bad with the Red Sox. Perhaps Acta can have similar success with a halfway decent front office (although Boston has both an outstanding front office and a load of cash, the latter of which Cleveland is missing). I understand Acta is well-respected in baseball circles (particularly in developing young players and in being a good tactician) and, let's face it, he had no chance with Washington.
