Beyond 12,000: Sachin Tendulkar of India is now the highest scoring batsman in Test cricket.
I guess it's the factionalised/political nature of Indian cricket. So while celebrating his genius, I do wonder that Tendulkar has survived as long as he has, as well having a period as Test captain - a poisoned chalice if there ever was one.
Also, Border had to put up with a lot in his time - particularly from commentators such as Ian Chappell who carried on the World Series Cricket war. Winning the World Cup in 1987 and the Ashes in 1989 were definite turning points and subsequently made him immune from criticism.

Thoroughly deserved. It's a shame, I think, that for much of Tendulkar's career India have been a relatively weak test side, with too much focus on cashing in on the one-day game.
I also find it bizarre to read English-language cricket forums with Indian participants and see a large anti-Tendulkar faction - one didn't see the same about Border amongst Australians, for example.
