Orange & Black backlash: Defending Philly Flyers
While there is no excuse for the infractions committed by Jesse Boulerice and Steve Downie earlier this season, they paid their debt to society and are back. Earlier this season Simon Gagne took an elbow to the head from Jay BOUWMEISTER, NO PENALTY,NO SUSPENSION NO REVIEW. 2 seasons ago against Montreal,Keith Primeau takes elbow to the head, same scenario, no penalty etc. World-class forward Peter Forsberg joins the Flyers is constantly hacked held, beat on slashed etc and just can't believe that because he is wearing Philly colors what was once and always was a penalty is now a non-call. He actually started flipping out and losing it getting a string of penalties for complaining about the non-calls. Not in his history. Ask Danny Briere if he thinks the refs are turning a bit of a blind eye his way in terms of his treatment on the ice. He too is not a complainer and hasn't flipped out yet. Right now the Flyers have their most talented roster in a couple decades. If they can talk James Van Riemsdyk out of college after leading the USA Team in the just-completed World Junior Championships and bring Claude Giruox up after being one of Champion Canada's best players watch out Devils. Paul Holmgren has shown incredible moxy as a GM. A couple tweaks here and there and they will be in Cup contention. Nittymaki & Biron both are on their games. Richards,Carter, coming into their own Braydon Colburn the best kept secret in the East.Gagne, Briere, Allstars perenially. Hartnell Kapanen Knuble, pluggers who contribute in many ways.Scott Upshall, Joffrey Lupul definitely untapped gems who can skate and score.Kimmo Timonen as smooth as they come on the blue-line the likes of we haven't seen since Mark Howe. Jason Smith an old-school Flyer,Lasse Kukonen same. All in all an exciting team to watch that just may go long into the playoffs or not. FlyingBrownDodger
