Live text: Worthington Cup semifinal 2nd leg: Liverpool v Sheffield Utd. (8pm GMT/3pm EST): In one hour, my team Liverpool will play for a place in the Worthington Cup final. They will need to draw confidence from their first Premiership win in twelve games, as they strive to overcome a 2-1 deficit against First Division upstarts Sheffield Utd.

HESKEY?!? Why?! Why must you anger me so?!

C'mon, Fucker, he bloody scored the goal that gave them their first win in 12 games. Give him a chance. Now, back to the game ...

Hmm. I wonder if Kirkland's still having flashbacks to the walloping he took in the first leg. Maybe they should put Dudek in. and hey, it looks like Houllier started everyone I named, including Riise. Good for him. That should make you happy, SF, no?

Goal! Seven minutes in, Diouf is set up by ... Heskey! Hahahahaha.

NO! That does NOT make me happy. Heskey probably tripped and the ball rolled towards Diouf.

40 mins Quinn's corner from the right is superb and Jagielka beats Carragher to the header... -beats who? CARRAGHER! 41 mins ...Jagielka sends his header inches wide, so close to the equaliser for Sheffield United Notice, no mention of the English wonderboy Kirkland who was probably off his line as usual... I'm sorry you have your hopes up so high worldcup. Liverpool are playing Heskey, Murphy, Carragher AND Kirkland. The final score will be 1-1. Liverpool will be out. I have given up on Liverpool. They only break my heart.

Oh, here is an example of Carragher's and Kirkland's wonder efforts... 5 mins: Jamie Carragher flattens Tonge with the kind of tackle Big Ron Atkinson calls "a reducer". Introductions over, Sheffield United take their throw. the ball is crossed in, Kirkland comes for it, changes his mind and Wayne "The Chief" Allison squanders a free header. A superb chance, he should have scored.

I wonder if Houllier will bring in Dudek if we go 3-0 up. C'mon, have some heart, SF.

btw, at least Diouf is doing some damage on the right.

I like Diouf.

Damnit, looks like they're back to their "contain and counter-attack" mode. We're heading for extra-time (please, Sheffield, don't score).

Kirkland fucks up bigtime at the end there...he's lucky not to be sent off. I just noticed your "if we're up 3-0" comment....hahahahahahahaha!!

Extra-time it is. If the score stands, Liverpool are in the final on the away goals rule. I hope they take a stronger approach than just playing spoilers. It's nail-biter time.

With this win, do we get to hear some sunshiney news about Liverpool and Houllier for a while--at least until they meet Arsenal next week (go gunners!).

Yes! Now, it's on to the FA Cup vs Crystal Palace. Let's not lose it now, boys. and trox, we'll beat the Gunners. You heard it here first.

And, by god, they went and scored more than one goal. Happy days are here again.

I don't believe it.

They better field the same team that beat Southampton: Riise at left wing-back, Murphy and Gerrard leading the midfield charge, Diouf attacking wide right, Heskey and Owen striking down the middle. I want to see them run Sheffield Utd. ragged and end the first half four goals in front.
