Oklahoma Sooners: National Championship
I'll just start by saying, "Tell me a good reason why the Oklahoma Sooners won't get to the National Championship." They have all the right pieces to not only go to the Fiesta Bowl, but also win it. OU's offense will probobly not be dominant, but it will be efficient. For starters, they have the number one runningback (and player) in the backfield. They also have above average back-up backs. Secondly, OU has an experienced QB, a statement that not many powerhouses, such as USC or Texas, can make. Although the offensive line is not as experienced as it should be, there are great, strong athletes on it. As for the receivers, OU has some of the best young receivers in the nation. And now for the good part. OU's defense has the potential and is on the way to being the best overall unit in the nation. Last year, they were 13th overall in defense, they led the nation in sacks and were in the top 5 in run defense. They return over 10 players with starting experience. They have a preseason All-American in Rufus Alexander at linebacker, as well as one of the best linebacking units in the nation (Think Ohio State from last year). Their secondary will be greatly improved compared to the last few years having DJ Wolfe and Reggie Smith with a considerable amount of playing time. The D-line was a sacking machine last year and almost all starters return. Any questions? I'm out.
