Will Leak finally live up to his potential?: The first three years of Chris Leak's football career at Florida have been plagued with mediocrity.

Chris Leak could be in for another rude awakening when the 2006/2007 College Football season comes around. With the Gators being expected to finish high in the SEC race and possibly earn a bid for a BCS Bowl, Leak is being looked upon to carry the hungry Gators on his shoulders. Is he ready for it? Leak will have a lot of pressure to live up to. Not only his own billing, but the teams also. Leak is being pushed by standout freshmen QB Tim Tebow for the starting job. Leak is finally getting used to the spread option offense which last year many questioned whether or not Leak would be able to adjust as the season progressed. The pressure isn't only on Leak, but also on the running backs. With no running game then everything will have to be relied upon the quarterbacking of Leak. As the 2005 season went on Leak became a more proficient passer. With a few star WR's back and some very talented frosh coming in, Leak and the Gators shouldn't have to worry about their passing game. But the main question revolves around Leak's running game. In the spread option offense you need a QB to make quick decisions. Leak showed last year that he couldn't handle being the general of the offense and taking things into his own hands. In order for the Gators to excel at what they do, Leak must make better decisions and become an efficient runner. The Gators will be looked upon to be one of the top dogs in the nation. But in order to do so, Chris Leak must be willing to step up to his own level and prove that he can take control of a game. And if he does, look for not only the Gators to be in the national championship hunt, but also Leak to be in the Heismann Trophy Race.
