Supermen?: Benny and the boys
Superman dodges another bullet. 24 and bulletproof never rang so true. I have to believe that Roethlisberger will now heed the words of not only his loved ones and close teamates but also anyone with an IQ of 30+ and put the stinking brain bucket on whilst he cruises. You see, this isn't a question of whether or not it's the uncomfortable alternative to bleeding through the ears, not wearing that damn thing goes a long way into understanding the mindset of an ever growing population of young athletes throughout professional sports. I propose an idea to any professional sports organization that is willing to pay that increasingly large amount of money to get the youngest, quickest, strongest and most impressionable athletes out on the field. Why not make it a contractual obligation, if you are "very" young entering a league, to have some type of life coach be able to check in with some of these young studs from time to time if only to protect the multi-million dollar investment that pretty much all teams are willing to create. It may sound ridiculous but doesn't it seem that everyone is now willing to look away until something terrible happens, at which point it's too late and reality steps in to create a life lesson. Things like this will probably never change. Young athletes will continue to get lots of money with little or no guidance on what to do with what doesn't go straight into their stock portfolio and savings. I realize Ben is somewhat of an exception to alot of what happens to young stars but his mentality is not far removed from most of them. Well Mr. Roethlisberger, I look forward to your interview with Stuart Scott adamant on the use of helmets while riding. Don't forget about the children. Not you silly, the really young ones.
