NBA Beat Report: The Central Division falters. Pacers lose two in a row. Pistons lose three in a row. And the Hornets lose to the Clippers. But forget about Divisions, Texas rules. Mavericks, Rockets, and Spurs (a very nice Spurs news site) are #1, #3, and #4, respectively, in the Western Conference. I thought Texas was a football state? Are the Lakers depleted? Will they eventually work their way into the playoff picture? Finally, are NBA Locker Rooms getting out of control?

And tonight we get the Mavs at the Spurs. I was at the Mavs/Clippers game last night, and it was frankly pretty boring*, except for the Nowitzki injury (gaf!) and the booing of Wang ZhiZhi (btw, who the hell knew that Cherokee Parks was playing? And for the Clips?) I saw a stat in the paper today: adding the Dirk and Adrian Griffin (shoulder) injuries last night, the Mavs have had 10 injuries this year, four of which have been to starters: Griffin, Dirk, Raef, and Najera. If they make it through this round of injuries, they're going to begin to look bulletproof (nevermind that game at the lakers on friday night. I don't want to talk about it.) Dirk may even be back for tonight's game in San Antonio. I really don't want him to push it, but he may be necessary for a win. But if he can't play, he can't play. *boring b/c of a lack of a game. there was no contest.

Dirk won't be necessary for a win until june because no win will be necessary until then, at this rate. they should make sure he's healthy.
