Cubs Fans, Dash Any And All Hope Now...: Someone please explain this deal. Why would the Cubs do this? For years there's been talk of a loaded farm system is for the Northsiders. Now, they go and block HeeSop Choi and Bobby Hill. Turning one overpaid black-hole in the line up into two is not the stuff of baseball championships. If this is Dusy's idea of building a team, I say bring back Baylor!

Hey, at least Hundley's gone. That's good news even if all the Cubs got was a bag of balls.

well, I'm not incredibly happy about the cubs grabbing some more under-producing veterans, but like bag man, i'm glad to get rid of hundley. And the article explicitly states that grudzielanek is likely to be a backup for Hill, and says that karros is supposed to be a right-handed sub at first base. My guess (or rather, my hope) is that the left-handed choi will get most of the at-bats. So while I don't think it's a great deal, I don't think it's as bad as you've claimed.

A better deal would have been to give them all the wrong address to their new parks. Or force them all to retire. Andy MacPhail is clearly on top of things: who knew Grudzielanek still played?

Finally, the Dodgers got rid of Eric Karros, he is a bum and a half. Grudzielanek is ok, but he reached his prime a couple years ago.
