EPL Fantasy League Week 16 (December) was the week of Laurent Robert, which helped us not in the least. Still, we didn't do that badly; seven of us broke 60, my Bayern netted 74, and our month-leader sauril is #555 overall for the month of December. (more inside)

Champions League for me. Nice of Mr Saha to bag a brace this afternoon ;-)

Good grief, yes, kwacky! Saha saved my weekend from total misery. And Forsell, too. Whew. I thought I was going to have to make a drastic 12-penalty-point change, but I think I may be able to ride this out. Maybe.

Saha, Ruud, and N'Gotty, thank you all. Next week I've got to get rid of my Wolves for some players with points.

Oi, I got 71 points, they were late noticing that Malbranque got an assist for Fulham. Seeing as this appears to be some kind of Oscar award acceptance thread I'd like to give my wholehearted thanks to my captain super Alan Shearer. Like a fine wine, he improves with age. Plaudits also to the psychopathic Alex Rae for his second fine week on the bounce.

Damn straight, squealster. Shearer has been great this year, and kept my team afloat.

Radzinski has been a bit of a bust. He's off the bully boys.

Today's Soccernet poll question is: Will Gerrard Houllier be able to keep his job until the end of the season? Current responses is 73.8% NO, 26.1% yes. ROTFLMAO. So if GH goes, who are the top candidates to replace him? O'Neill or someone less well known out of the Continent?

EPL fantasy league is cobblers, Yahoo is where it's at, Matt.

You're only saying that because you're crap at the EPL game FB.

I'm starting to crap out on the EPL league too! What the hell?! I like the Yahoo game just as much...

Yahoo is for aficionados, EPL for amateurs.

yahoo stinks. this is where it's at! but seriously, I've pretty much quit changing my yahoo team after finding out that when you sell a player after he's gone up in value, you don't get the points to spend. What's the point, then?

I love 'em both. And I'm not even a contender in either (but that will soon change, maties)! Yahoo: Simple as peas. You just pay for it by having to tolerate in the nutso and unreliability from the yahoo! crew. Not profiting off your player's price increase sounds pretty good to me. The real insanity is you can profit when they go _down_ in price; then you can use those points on other players. Yahoo is like having a crazy old unpredictable beater to tinker with. And you have to find out if every part is working or banned, before you can use it. And it seems that it's been declining in usefulness over time. PremierLeague: Like driving a Ferrari. So many doodads it can be intimidating to just start. But, once you get in it, so many great features you can't dream of living without like real-time point updates, last-minute (up to 30 minutes before the first game) team changes, player red flags, and same-day league updates. Are you reading, yahoo? They also have fun stuff such as the graphing feature and a weekly newsletter. The only drawbacks are the limits on player trades a week, but even then, the penalties are disincentives, rather than out and out no-nos.

The points are to assess the increased value of your asset(s). The sell price stays the same, but if you bought at x, and now the players are valued at y, you know by what degree, z, their value has increased, decreased, stayed the same, etc. Sounds simple, and it is: its just a measure of relative success. If you're way over your original budget, your team is good. Basically, this system rewards pre-season management, rather than mid-season movers.

where the hell is the yahoo table? I am going to post it just so I can gloat that I scored nearly 80 pts even with three no-shows!

I predict a widespread wailing and gnashing of teeth now that the Blues v Boro and Wolves v Scousers games have been postponed due to waterlogged pitches. *wail, gnash*

Soccernet has articles up from both games with much protestation from three of four coaches. And here I am, thinking footballers are tougher than helmetheads but seeing games put off for wet fields.
