EPL Fantasy League Week 8 (October), pending the Birmingham-Chelsea make-up on the 14th. Note that all but three of us have more points coming either from that game or from subs. salmacis leads the week until then with 50; overall, Mr. Unsuitable has put some distance between himself and the pack. Forsell won't play against Chelsea as part of the loan agreement. I have just completed the mother of all clearouts. Shit or bust time.

taupe: You are the man. Timely technicolor tables, and added detail, too. A true service to mankind. So I have more points coming? Go, Blues, go! Score, Savage, score! Red Dragons manager comments: "We won't shift and leap up the table in a fortnight, it will take some time, and to do that, we need to win and win." (actually, Newcastle's Sir Bobby Robson said that.)

Shit week for me again. I'm gonna have to rejig things methinks to the cost of points. Ah well, faint heart never won fair lady or a fantasy football league.

I said I was going to operate in automatic mode, but after week 3, I'd slipped to 75,000th in the overall rankings and it was clear that my team needed big changes. Since then, my overall ranking has improved every week. I like this league better than others I've done - defenders and midfielders score as well as strikers. The transfers are very cleverly done. Player valuations seem to work well. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can look at other people's teams.

Flipping heck FB. 8 transfers in one week? You sure you ain't Barry Fry?

I can't believe Bartlett scored. He just saved himself from being booted off my team. But only just.

Barry Fry? Amateur! It might perhaps have been prudent to wait to see if any of my new chuffers are fit after the internationals, but it is done now.

Where the hell can we get an accurate injury report prior to fixtures so we don't end up with big fat zeroes on the pitch?

Thanks, wc. Sometimes I worry if it's too much, but it's good to know it's appreciated. I think someone posted a link to FISO.co.uk earlier; that has links I use. PhysioRoom.com and Soccernet have pretty comprehensive injury information in their weekend previews. (Do the Press Association write the previews that appear on Soccernet? Because I see a lot of the same information worded pretty much verbatim on other sites, like the BBC's. I'd understand if the PA worked the way the Associated Press works over here, except the AP is always explicitly credited.)

Well... I just had a great week. Stayed in first in the EPL and moved up 4 in Yahoo!! WOO HOO!

Moved up two in both leagues. Still #2 in MLS, only 350 pts away from #1. This weekend, I will make my move! I am chuffed.

Stupid MLS...etrader9 turned me off to that whole game.
posted by StarFucker at 11:10 AM on October 07, 2003
I'm just laughing about the MLS league, coz I can't make any more trades, and at least two of my players are injured each week, but I'm still scoring more than etrader. Hoohoo.

That Physioroom.com front page is quite amusing. Look WC, SF, we're top of the table there! W00t!!! Of course, the table is for number of injured players but something is better than nothing, my old grandpa used to say.

This is terrible. At this rate, Houllier will have to recall Michael Jordan to play in attack.

So, hey, what's the "Survivor" Liverpool formation? Dudek (Kirkland? Da Dude is starting to mess up again) Hyppia, Henchoz, Finnan Diouf, Riise, Gerrard, Le Tallec (Diao?) Smicer Heskey, Kewell ?

How is Dudek messing up?
posted by StarFucker at 03:22 PM on October 07, 2003
Didn't he gift two goals to Charlton just two weeks ago? I'm not against Dudek, it just seems that he's got a bit of the Grobelaar in him.

As an experiment I added another column to the table ("PR") showing how many players each team was still waiting on. The first number denotes pending Blues and Blues players, and the number in parentheses is the minimum number of substitutes that would also figure into that team's scoring.
