Probably a newbie question but why are all times CST instead of set by a user preference?

i get MST on some, and PST on others. I guess I never pay much attention to it... until now! yerfatma: thanks for the link. Just the kind of place needed for Boston sports. Nice looking page, too.

This subject was brought up a while ago. Never got an answer then either. I've since learned to live with it.

One imagines it's because of what an entirely big pain in the ass the customization is (see relevant MetaFilter discussion while remembering this site was built before MeFi offered the timezone customization). I'm still in the process of completely debugging the local time functionality on my site. It's in PHP, but I parley-view the ColdFusion some too, so I'd be happy to help. Unless it becomes difficult. At which point I will disappear like a polar bear in a blizzard.
