Using pawns, brawn to nab chess-boxing crown: Rarely do brains and brawn come together in this way. A Russian has been crowned world champion in the sport of chess boxing that requires equal skill at moving pawns and throwing punches. The loser said he was simply too punch-drunk to fend off checkmate.

Let's modify this to include beer bongs & Yaeger Bombs just before entering the ring & promote the sport on college campuses. Now featured on ESPN College Game Day "chess boxing with shots"

Like wfrazerjr, I also am intrigued. But for me, I just want to watch. And Tron, MMA chess? I doubt it, maybe MMA checkers or MMA tic tac toe.

Simply awesome. I guess we can now move chess- or at least chess-boxing- solidly into the "Sport" column of our eternal debate.
