Real Madrid 0 Arsenal 1: As a Gooner, I've pretty much waited all my life for this. But what actually does it say about sports commentary?

The subtext is dodgy Premiership team beats the might of La Liga ... the truth is a team built to beat Real Madrid triumphs at its first opportunity ... ???

Still: feels damn good!

Never occurred to me, or my friends watching, that there were not only no English players, but no British players on the Arsenal team. But do I care? Well, a little bit, but not much!

LIVE! Arsenal v Chelsea (Champions League quarterfinal, 2nd leg).

dng - you the same dng on monkeyfilter? None of the Gooners I know have ever talked about the treble - it's all been tabloid tales. I'm reaching new depths of guttedness that I didn't know existed and I'm very worried about Liverpool and Newcastle coming. But IF we end up winning the Premeirship this year we'll still be exceeding expectations. Last night was down to a small squad hitting the wall. We were magnificent in the first half and had nothing left by the end of the second.

It's probably fair to say that ManUre have not bought success in the way that Chelsea appear to be trying to, or that Blackburn (briefly) did ... But they have also been guilty of spending vast wads of cash on a few star players - Veron, Ferdinand to name a few ... But (oh pleeeeze god) this is another crack in the evil empire and if the rift between Fergie and Magnier gets out of hand then this could be the end of ManUre's recent hegemony ... It happened to Liverpool ... I just hope that Chelsea and ManUre spend enough time fighting each other to allow Arsenal to win another double!
