See, the thing about the knuckleballer is that he's only as good as his catcher. Look at the transition Wakefield has to make with Bard this year. He has been spoiled by having Mirabelli catch for him the last couple years. The knuckleball is very hard to control, thus, very hard to catch. When a batter is confidant that the pitch will not be controlled by the catcher, it dictates at which balls he will swing. Plus, it makes the fastballs more obvious. Wake's performance the other night is not only his own fault, part of the blame goes to the one who catches. fyi - the knuckleball is not as easy on the shoulder as most people think it is...

it did take me by surprise, but i think this is a good move for all involved. the reds definately need a good young starter, and adding some speed and consistency in the outfield for trot's injuries will also help out the sox. besides, the sox have an abundance of pitchers, doesnt hurt to deal one of them out to improve on another area of the team. plus now theres a little room for the rocket to move back to boston!

I for one, although a Pats fan, am happy for cowher, hines ward, the bus and the rest in pittsburg. they deserve the win and should be proud of the heart they showed this season. also, i agree that although the refs called a tight game, did not swing it one way or the other. the seahawks were simply outplayed. period.

Top 10 Baseball Records
I dont know about everyone else, but Ive always thought it would be cool to see a full 9 innings pitched, each out a strikeout. Clemens and Kerry Wood came close with 20, but I dont know if I can see it happening anytime soon...
