Over the Hill: Is this even a story anymore? Another MRI on Grant Hill's knee? Really, Dr., something's messed up in there? Huh, go figure.

another stupid trade idea from our friend sam: It looks like Sam Smith of the Chicago Tribune is at it again. Every year, at least once, Minnesota Timberwolves fans must endure another stupid trade scenario. For the past two years it has been Garnett for the starting five of the baby-bulls, minus a player or two, and with draft considerations. It seems he can't stop there. his new idea has Garnett going to Dallas for Nowitzki. Does this trade make any sense in any way beside it being two big names? Why would Minnesota want this? Garnett is every bit the player Dirk is, but he can play defense. He rebounds better, shoots better from inside 20 feet, passes much better, and can bring the ball up the court. The only thing Dirk has that Kevin doesn't is a reliable three. How in the world does that fit in with the new Dwayne Casey coached T wolves? He first ran this story in May (22nd) as a real trade, being thought about by Cuban, but since has recycled the story as merely a thought. Sam Smith should have his press ID and decoder ring taken away until he learns to write an article that has some merit.

Jesus-tap-dancing-christ-on-a-cross. I am sick of this. Most of you have said the same thing, but I just cannot stand this argument anymore. The day we start picking people on talent, and no one asks what race they are, then we win. Until then, all this does is put some charge in an issue that should have been dead some time ago. It is simple. I don't care if you are white, black, or alien, if you can play ball, come play for me. IF I somehow come up with an all white team, then I know I have an all white team of the best people. If they are all black, same thing. Are we asking for affirmative action in sports now? Should we make every basketball team have an asian guy? After Yao and Wang Zhi Zhi, there just aren't a lot out there. It might be fun to watch, but it is racist at its core, as well. Ok, I am off my soap box now.

The whole team had 136 yards receiving. Houston had more yards than that against them a week ago. Houston. I would have done more than throw a punch at the receiver coach, that's for sure.

Well, not a whole season, they shut him down most back to backs, and limited his forth quarter minutes as well. I misspoke about the knee/ankle thing, but it is one and the same. Anyone who has injured one knows that the other one is not far behind. When you favor a body part, another one takes the brunt. As for the hall of fame, I don;t think they vote on potential, or a list of guys would make it in. He has some good years with some good numbers, and he is a hell of a player, but three failed comebacks have probably taken him out, shourt of him making some Horry like last minute shots in some very big games.

As far as I can tell, this will be an NFL first. I searched back soem years, and have not found it, so it is, at least, safe to say this is a modern era first. The NFL has (or had) a strict policy not to play games on Friday, so as not to interfere with special college and all highschool games. They usually post make-up games that cannot be scheduled Saturday on Thursdays. I didn't search every game (I try to have a life) but I went back far enough to at least say this is very rare, and odd.

Kobe-Phil pairing won't amount to much
enough silly equations. I have watched the games I can get this preseason, and the Lakers actually look pretty good (5-2). They will get into the playoffs this year, and that is all anyone is reasonably expecting. Kobe is good enough that, in the triangle, he can cause enough problems to beat the teams they need to beat (read: everyone out of 8th place) Someone said it, though: Phil would not be back if he didn't think they could win. Saying he is "bored" is stupid. Saying he needed the money is stupid. Saying he didn;t have his choice of about 15 other teams is stupid. There you have it.
