Admiral dusted - Mea culpa on the shill comment - I didn't mean to be so harsh. I still think the refs have to earn respect however, and they didn't in this series. As I said before, while I'm not a Mavs fan I think they got the short end of the stick and you can lay that squarely at the feet of the officials. And I think the bitching will abate, at least somewhat, when the refs start calling it evenly. Win or lose, that's all any fan wants - a fair game.

rcade: Aye, aye, Sir. Permission to come aboard and express an opinion not in keeping with the established rank and file, Sir. Seriously, I was not aware of the hierarchy and I apologize if I offended dusted. But I think dusted could tell me that without your help.

"What happened to Jason Williams? He went from the most to the least flair in the NBA. He looks so scared to make a mistake." I think you can thank Hubie Brown for that. He didn't like Jason showboating in Memphis and sat on him when he did. He hasn't been the same since.

Simmons was right. Yep. Only he was wrong about the series outcome. Guess he underestimated the atrociousness of the officiating. 21 FTA for Wade. 23 for Dallas. What's wrong with this picture?

dusted - I was wondering when some NBA corporate shill would show up on SpoFi. Bill Simmons, who predicted the refs would give Miami at least two games in his Finals preview, wrote some interesting stuff in his column today regarding the officiating this past season and the refs chosen to call this series thus far. Check it out: And Ufez, you're right. As soon as they stopped driving they lost.

Mark Cuban should spend some of his money on a writing class or two. He goes one better. Whenever he's fined he donates a matching amount to charity. By the way, David Stern (per his interview on PTI) heard none of the comments Mark Cuban was reported to have made, and refuses to say why he fined him. David Stern has completed his transformation from commissioner to despot. Even though I am not a Mav fan, I truly hope the Mavs triumph. Nothing could be sweeter than seeing him hand Cuban the trophy.

Wow. Unbelievable. I'm talking about the "foul" at the end on Wade. I'm speechless.

They could write a tell-all book about it and make a lot of money. And even more enemies. But your point is taken. There is no hard evidence and I doubt even if there was that any official would be forthcoming. Witness the MLB steroid debacle. No way the powers that be didn't know what was going on in the clubhouse. But I digress.... Stack is Stack, but Shaq is Shaq. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Shaq's cheap shot that drew blood from Jerry in Game 3 didn't result in a suspension. And there have been numerous other cheap shots in this series that haven't produced a similar reaction. Why this one? The arbitrary nature of the decision is what has me concerned there is something more sinister going on. Personally, I think they should just let them play - it's the finals. But if your going to start calling it tight - and you don't want conspiracy theorists like me looking for magic bullets - do so at both ends of the court. And make sure that includes suspension for EVERY cheap shot.

Am new around here, so bear with me. Been observing the posts and decided to weigh in. I agree with Bud Lang that the bottom line is money. Remember the old adage "Whatever's good for boxing...." Same applies here. Hate to be skeptical, but there's too much dough to be had to let the series play out without making sure they've been able to squeeze out every last drop of revenue.
