i do not understand what the problem is...the story is on more than just the one message board (read my contribution--which also includes an "unsourced" denial by Pippen's attorney), and doesn't everyone's comments on the story attempt to knock it down? Generally, we're not journalists or lawyers here, and Scottie Pippen is a public figure, unless garfield or one of the founders *knows* that this story is untrue and promulgates, I don't believe it to be libelous in the US. PS Mike Piazza is gay.

oh, I'd find it very convenient if there was a useful links section that went to scores and the like but that's just because I'm lazy. Are there any RSS feeds that sportsfilter could use?

Yeah, I agree. The problem is that a lot of the things that we'd want to comment on, don't come with corresponding links, because according to the guidelines, I'm not supposed to put up a link to ESPN's draft coverage (or other broad-based material). I think Sportsfilter needs to get a little more event-driven.

Ah, gyc quit sandbagging. I like everybody on your team but Placido Polanco and Tony LaRussa says he's going to prove me wrong. corpse: usually if you miss a draft you end up with 4 third basemen or something, you got lucky. Besides you have the best team name.

There were 14 total, 20 would have been brutal but challenging, you should have gotten in though, it was pretty fun. hincadenza: it seemed like most people were there but it's almost impossible to tell.

This seems like a massive overreaction. Why would you (and quite frankly why should you) eliminate the topic of etiquette? It seems that this would cause 2 negatives, a) it takes a measure of control over the content away from the community and puts it in the hands of the owners and b) it prevents the etiquette from evolving on it's own. Does this represent a desire to get away from the hand-wringing on Metatalk? Let me be the first to sat 'Who Cares?' I think too many people at this website bind up the identity of sportsfilter with the identity of metafilter. Maybe there's something I don't understand about this...

It's completely free (at least it was last year--knock on wood), it has it's drawbacks but it's less work administratively than about anything else. We probably should find a way to do the draft/auction privately, and I don't know if we should try to do it in a SportsFilter thread (it would work perfectly there if you ask me, but I wouldn't propose we put 1000 posts over a week into the Locker Room). Anyway, I posted this thread but I'm not trying to own it, if anybody wants to do something more elaborate than a Yahoo 5x5 rotisserie league, I'll play and even try to help. Wulfgar! I'm ready whenever for football.

I can't think of anything about sports that truly *rocks*. Maybe the World Cup. Lots of stuff sucks though. Like, say, the X Games. But, wait a second, the X Games are supposed to Rock. Maybe the text should just be parsed to substitute 'sux' for every occurrence of 'rox'. Can you see it? Bud Selig rox!!! The NFL instant replay rule rox!!! The WWF rox!!! err, the WWF sux!!! egad, it's some sort of paradox.
