Mixed emotions about the tie...I am definitely not a Bonds fan, I too believe he is a cheat. What has happened is done, unless MLB and its pathetic leader Selig either cut his numbers in half from '98-present (not gonna do it) or put an * besides them (probably not gonna do it), no one on either side will completely accept it. He was an ass-clown before steroids and even more so since. so 'roid rage would be hard to measure with Bonds. If I caught #714 and/or #715 part of me would want to stick it to Bonds for upper 6 digit dollars (maybe 7 digits) to give to him, but since no * or reduced numbers are likely, I would briefly consider donating to the Hall of Fame, but more likely save for my own son. All of this may seem lofty in ideology, but as fans...we can only presume what we would do in any situation. The sooner Bonds just goes away the sooner we can find someone else to analyze. By the way just to inform those Bonds supporters...he is only an offensive player...Babe Ruth was an exceptional pitcher BEFORE making his mark with a bat...how you like me now Brock?!

kendall should just show some class and trot down to first like Biggio does...if a pitcher wants to hit you, he can nail you anywhere on your body he wants to at any speed. At this level, a batter should be able to tell if it is an on purpous pitch or not. With the bases loaded, no pitcher and I mean no pitcher would risk giving up a run just to bean a guy.

That was a low blow airman, with your Yao Ming reference... Even I am not touting anyone from the Rockets as MVP. My team needs to tank the final games to try to get within the top 4 or 5 for the lottery pick...Someone tell Kelvin Cato we want our money back! (pretend you are quoting that rap tune when you read that part).

Does anyone think that San Antonio can/will support a baseball team...to the degree that a team needs for survival? No offense to the people of San Antonio, but would they realize what they are getting into if they did move the Marlins into town? I for one hope they NEVER vote for a baseball stadium. If an owner wants to relocate...he should foot the entire bill! Certainly it would be a monumental task to both pay for your own stadium AND build a winning team...or maintain a mediocre one. The owner should prove to the city he wants to relocate to, that even if he starts out losing when he gets there, that he will stick it out and not only build a winning team, but show the city that the team deserves to have a loyal fan base. As a die hard Astros fan my entire life, I have seen them truly suck at various times and through the owner(s) staying committed to the fans/ city...(not to mention still making tons of money winning or losing) turned Houston from a football town to a competitive baseball town....hey owners...forget your money, show me the commitment.

It would appear that umps, refs and the like are untouchable. I agree with everett that players are censored with regard to criticism of officiating and league officials. Sure, showing respect is a must, but if a call is blown, officiating crews should also be required to give post game interviews to answer questions. Of course there is a time and place for criticism, but officials must think that fans are paying to see their "skills". I think for the most part officiating is pretty good, but when a mistake is made and not corrected on the spot, I think that devalues some integrity of the sport involved. This is a sports wide issue that will not be resolved by players necessarily openly criticisizing, but with that and a show from fans, the upper crust league mgmts have an obligation to ensure that "their" best product is presented like the teams are supposed to do.

I think there is truth in what EVERYONE is saying about Bonds, such as: 1) did he cheat? absolutely, of course. 2) will he admit it? absolutely not. 3) great player? without a doubt 4) no talent ass clown to fans? unmatched 5) his right to be an ass clown? sure is 6) Jeff Kent's drinking buddy? not in this lifetime...sorry I couldn't resist! 7) dogged and badgered by media? constantly and last but not least... 8) Bud Selig knew, approved and enabled Bonds and countless others by his inaction that will lead to not only bogus stats, but is directly/indirectly responsible for the future health problems of all players due to his vanity while this occured on his watch. Fenriq...thanks for the kind words about Bagwell, although he hasn't officially retired. he is pretty much done..a 2 1/2 minute standing ovation shows respect for his loyalty after 15 years with one team. Hey how about trading him back to Boston, as a DH so he could play for the team he grew up supporting...is Larry Anderson still around?

chicobangs "brain cancer, which has nothing whatsoever to do with steriod use, did" Before you correct me on Alzado's cause of death, you better Yahoo "Lyle Alzado" and read the 3rd one down titled "Memorial to Lyle Alzado. After reading the last line it states that cause of death was brain cancer due to EXCESSIVE STERIOD USE! Fenriq, sorry I missed your response...can you repeat it? Stunner, what team do you support? You may be right, but the Astros will still be a favorite to go back to the big show by a lot of people. Fenriq OK, do you believe in you heart of hearts that he didn't use steriods? You are right, we don't have a smoking gun to prove it, do you or anyone else have proof that he didn't? Don't give me that "innocent until proven guilty" line as he is not in a legal court of law. Proven fact that steriod use increases aggression, did anyone actually see him abuse his former wife or would you believe her just because "she said so". I was in the Navy and knew a guy who was on steriods and saw the difference it made in his appearance and demeanor...I had proof because he admitted it to me when I kicked his ass in front of about 20 people for picking on a small guy he thought he could humiliate....steriods made him huge...but sure didn't help him that day...do you really believe Bonds is clean or do you just want to believe.

To everyone on the entire steriods issue...to all the "roid users" I have to word for you (actually names)... those two are "Lyle Alzado"

Fenriq, Last night I responded to your comment about "expecting too much from an astros fan" and hoped you would respond back. I hope you got my point about Bonds. Let me reiterate, Bonds is again a vastly talented ballplayer, surely enough to probably at least approach and perhaps break the homerun record. Make no mistake about it, HE CHEATED...so has many others. If he was liked across the board, this would not seem quite the big deal it is, but because he is a no talent ass clown when it comes to fans, it is a huge deal. I lived in the SF Bay Area for 16 years and went to Giants/Astros games before he went to the Giants as well as during, and although the fans wanted him on the team, he was not and is still not liked. He is vastly overrated...overall, but still tremendous talent. Also like I said before regarding your Astros fan comment, unless you are a White Sox fan, your second rate team watched the World Series from OUTSIDE the chalk lines...maybe the Astros will do the same this year, I hope not! Until they do, they are the reigning N.L. Champs..Regardless, I hope your team brings you as many thrills as the Astros did for me. Good Luck

fenriq, I can feel the sarcasm in your reply, no offense but I will consider the source regarding "expecting too much from an astros fan" comment. I guess you just heard of Barry Bonds. Having lived in the SF Bay Area for 16 years before moving back to Houston, I frequently went to Giants/Astros games before and during Bonds arrival. The guy is without a doubt a great ballplayer, but is a no talent ass clown when it comes to interaction with fans...simply put he has no class. I also think that without cheating, he still had the best chance of the homerun record(s). Make no mistake that he cheatec...so did numerous others granted, but they did not have the same level of talent he did. You can make a feeble attempt to insult my being an Astros fan, but unless you are a White Sox fan, your second rate team watched the W.S outside of the chalk lines...who knows maybe the Astros will too this year, but until then, we are the current N.L. champs...none the less I hope your team does well and gives you joy like mine did. Good Luck! (seriously)

The Astros beat the Marlins 1-0 in their season opener...should we quit now to preserve the undefeated season? HA! Here is to all the true fans of their teams, if my Astros can finally make it to the World Series, there is hope for everyone. Hope we can make it back and win it this time. I will root for all teams (except when they play the 'Stros) EXCEPT San Francisco and that vastly overrated Bonds. Break a leg Barry, literally. You don't need to cheat to win, unless you are a loser like Bonds.

Being that I am a die hard Houston fan, I might be willing to drink those old beers just to see if it was strong enough to wash the bitter taste of the Oilers losing so convincingly to the Steel Curtain so many times, and I haven't drank alcohol since 1987.

Dad Names Son 'ESPN'
I once had a customer named Dick Peters when I worked at (Fedex) Kinko's back in the mid-90's...I wanted to name my son Nolan Ryan as his first and middle name. my wife objected and asked "What if he doesn't like baseball or can't play it" I replied "With THAT name he had better be damn good at baseball AND PITCH !!" TRUE STORIES!!!
