I was watching the game and at first I thought they called offisides and thats why he tried that shot. If he thought he was offsides and the play was stopped its more understandable.
I think if it was another player it wouldnt have been such a huge story but with all the issues around Balotelli it was magnified.

I would think the Nationals would want to implement this for Strasburg's games.

But watch the histrionics when an Italian or a Frenchman dives next time- or if Drogba goes to the ground.
I love how you wrote "next time" because of course they will dive. Altidore needs to a lot more practice until he can get to Drogba's level at diving.

In addition to not at all trying to put a good product on the field
I disagree with that. They signed Stasburg and gave him the money he wanted (I believe it was a record signing but not positive). They've brought in free agents like Pudge. Last year they got Morgan who had a great second half last season. They have Zimmerman at third who is an all-star and a powerful bat at first with Dunn. That doesnt seem like a team not trying to put a good product on the field to me.
Pitching is where they need to most improvement.

I'm a fellow Red but Gerrards goal agains Hull earlier this season I think is a better example of a cross that went in. Especially his reaction to it going in.
I give Dempsey credit for the shot.

Thanks for the link etagloh.
I've always wanted to see a match to see what the big appeal was.

As an NC State Alum I can say State tried to get Cowher before O'Brien was hired but it was the year Cowher retired and rumor was he wanted to take time off.
I would say he's waiting for the Carolina job. At the end of the season their was lots of talk in North Carolina of Fox being fired and then Cowher possibly coming back to the NFL. Then Fox kept his job and no more Cowher talk.

Another report mentions it could have been much worse.
''It was the bus carrying our baggage which was in front of us which they fired on the most,'' he told Canal Plus. ''They thought we were in the bus in front.

how is the pressure of a perfect season any different than the pressure to win or go home?
I think anytime you have the possibilty of breaking a record that adds pressure to just winning. Remember back to the Patriots run all anyone talked about was how if the Patriots didnt win the super bowl their record meant nothing. I have to think the Patriots got tired of hearing that. Not that I think that had anything to do with the loss but its just another thing they had to deal with.

What about the idea that Caldwell didnt want to deal with the pressure of the "perfect season" during the playoffs.
Having said that I would have liked to see them go for it.

It takes more than the advantage of a massive payroll.
I would say the Yankees just did a better job last year in free agency then they have previously this decade. Adding Sabathia, Burnett, and Teixeira in a year could be one of the best groups of free agents ever (and most expensive).
Previous years they added Jaret Wright, Randy Johnson, Carl Pavano, Kevin Brown, Jason Giambi.

Exaclty what I was thinking bperk.
Players go crazy when its done against their team, but when their teammates do it they just turn a blind eye.

he will probably sit for the return match at Emirates.
The return match is the 3rd to last match of the season. So it will probably be pretty important if both teams are in contention for the Champions League spots.

I'm not an Arsenal fan, but I couldnt believe that. It reminded me of TO's celebration in Dallas a few years back.
Adebayor is going to have to go to Arsenal later this season. If Ade thought he was taunted by fans at this game just wait for the next one.

Looks like Bent might be on his way to Sunderland. So that would clear up some playing time.

Here is the story from the official Nationals website. It says it was not sponsored by the Nationals.

He was doing charity work for the team, I repeat, for the team
I didnt see anything in the first article that said he was doing this for the Nationals. I'm a Nationals fan so I looked into this more and found another link.
Dukes was late because he was signing autographs at a Little League function that was not sponsored by the Nationals.

Xavier Henry still needs to be released by Memphis before he can follow Cal.
Thats a rule the NCAA needs to change.
